The Birth of Lord Mahaveer (Mahaveer Bhagwan) –

Lord Maha Jainismveer, also known as Vardhamana Mahavira, is the 24th and last Tirthankara in Jainism. His birth is a significant event for Jains and is celebrated with great reverence.

Date of Birth: Mahaveer Bhagwan was born on the 13th day of the bright half of the month of Chaitra (Chaitra Shukla Trayodashi), which usually falls in March or April. This day is About His Birth:celebrated as Mahaveer Janma Kalyanak.

• Place of Birth: He was born in Kundagrama, a suburb of Vaishali (in present-day Bihar, India).

• Time Period: Scholars place his birth around 599 BCE, though some traditions cite 540 BCE.

• Parents: His father was King Siddhartha, and his mother was Queen Trishala. They belonged to the Ikshvaku dynasty.

• Birth Miracles: According to Jain texts, Queen Trishala had 14 (or 16, in some traditions) auspicious dreams before Mahaveer's birth, which indicated the birth of a great soul (Tirthankara).

Spiritual Significance:

• Mahaveer renounced his royal life at the age of 30 and practiced intense meditation and austerity.

• After 12 years of asceticism, he attained Kevala Jnana (omniscience).

• He spent the rest of his life preaching the path of non-violence (Ahimsa), truth (Satya), non-stealing (Asteya), celibacy (Brahmacharya), and non-possession (Aparigraha).

• Mahaveer attained nirvana (liberation) at the age of 72 at Pavapuri (in Bihar).

    About 2600 years ago, in the Indian state of Bihar, there was a city called Vaishali. There lived a king named Siddhartha and his queen Trishala.

    Queen Trishala gave birth on the day of Chaitra Shukla Trayodashi (a date in the Hindu calendar). The baby boy was named Vardhamana, which means “one who grows or prospers.”
